Goody's Dash Series, NASCAR Touring Drivers Make Their Return to Superspeedway Action at Kentucky Speedway

Daytona Beach, FL (July 4, 2003) — Goody's Dash Series, NASCAR Touring drivers and teams are getting ready to make their transition from short track racing to superspeedway action at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, KY on July 11. Last weekend, the Goody's Dash Series raced at the famed Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, S.C. The Kentucky 150 marks the third year the Goody's Dash Series will be making their appearance at this 1.5-mile, high-banked facility.

Goody's Dash Series points leader Robert Huffman is no stranger to Kentucky Speedway as he won the inaugural Goody's Dash Series event here on July 16, 2001. The Claremont, N.C. native not only took the win but was the Bud Pole winner as well. Huffman, driver of the No. 37 White House Apple Juice Toyota, was second to Jake Hobgood (No. 64 Germain Automotive Toyota) in last year's race. Huffman hopes Kentucky will be a lot kinder to him than Greenville-Pickens was, as he escaped there with a sixth place finish. With Huffman's past success at Kentucky Speedway, the odds will be looking a lot better for a top three finish this time around for the Goody’s Dash Series points leader.

Hobgood, the series' 2002 champion, is the returning race winner as he took home the victory in last years race at Kentucky Speedway. The Winnsboro, S.C. native has been on a roll lately, he picked up his first win of the 2003 season on June 14 at Big Daddy's South Boston (Va.) Speedway and is coming off a second place finish at Greenville-Pickens. With his finish at Greenville, Hobgood passed his brother Justin (No. 65 Germain Automotive Pontiac) for the second position in the Goody's Dash Series Championship point standings.

Some of the Goody's Dash Series drivers who had success at Kentucky Speedway last year and are making their return this year are Ned Combs (No. 9 Flagship RV's/Duragloss Mercury) who finished in third place and is currently 13th in the Goody's Dash Series Championship points, Chuck Gafrarar (No.14 Travel Club International/Ice House Toyota) who finished fourth in 2002 and looks for another good run as he teams up with the Hobgood's, Mike Watts (No. 17 Watts Motorsports Mercury) with a sixth place finish in 2002, Zach Brewer (No.31 Yadkin Valley Popcorn Pontiac) who had a seventh place finish last year, Brandon Ward (No.11 Rayco Safety/TRD Toyota) who is coming off two spectacular runs at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway and Greenville-Pickens Speedway and sits fourth in the Goody's Dash Series points standings, and Justin Hobgood (No. 65 Germain Motorsports Pontiac) who finished 10th at Kentucky last year is coming off a disappointing 11th place finish at Greenville-Pickens Speedway but is hoping he can rebound back at Kentucky Speedway with a top five finish if he going to pass his brother Jake Hobgood and catch points leader Robert Huffman .

The Green flag flies for the Kentucky 150 at 8:00pm. Qualifying will be at 1:00pm. For Ticket information call Kentucky Speedway at (859) 647-4309 or you can go online at www.kentuckyspeedway.com.
