Huffman collect not only his seconded consecutive win at the famed 1.5 mile high banked oval but also collected career win number 40 as well as picked up his 4th career win tying Mike Swaim for most wins by a Goody’s Dash driver at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

The pride of Claremont, NC wasted no time finding his way to the front early on in the race as he took the lead from Bud Pole winner Randy Humphrey on lap 6 and never looked back.  Huffman kept the No. 37 White House Apple Juice Toyota out of any accidents as he survived with his points lead in tact.

“I just love racing here at Lowe’s and my crew gave me a great car to run with.  This White House Apple Juice Toyota was especially good coming off turns 3 and 4.  Huffman said, “We did what we came out here to do and that was to keep the points lead in tact.”

Ricky Bryant drivers of the No. 3 Butlerbuilt Motorsports Pontiac and David Heitzhaus driver of the No. 45 Pro Hardware/Draper Trucking Pontiac tried to catch Huffman’s No. 37 White House Apple Juice Toyota toward the end of the race but an accident on lap 56 brought out the 6 caution of the night ending any hopes of catching Huffman.

Bryant started the race in 12th and worked his way through the field as he dodged a couple of early accidents making his way to the front.  The No. 3 Butlerbuilt Motorsports Pontiac was strong all race long as Bryant took home seconded place.

“Man what an awesome run for us.  We put this deal together to race at Lowe’s last minute and we had a lot of luck for a change.  Steve Asworth provided me with superb engine, which we made the switch to just before we came to the track.  Bryant said, the cautions helped us to night we were really good on the short runs but we were hurting on the long runs so I believe the cautions played in to our favor.”

David Heitzhaus brought the No. 45 Pro Hardware/Draper Trucking home to a third place finish. Heitzhaus car was strong all weekend as he started in the 7th position.  Heitzhaus stayed clear of any wrecks hoping to catch Huffman in the end.

“This No. 45 Pro Hardware/Draper trucking Pontiac was a rocket.  The car was just flawless driving wise we just ran out of time to catch Robert.  Hats off to Robert he is just a great racer and he was the man to beat.”

2002 Goody’s Dash Series Rookie of the year Chuck Gafrarar returned to action with new car and new team.  Gafrarar drove the No. 14 Travel Club International/Ice House Pontiac to an impressive fourth place finish for Hobgood Motorsports.

“That was pretty AWESOME I can’t thank the Hobgoods enough for giving me a top notch car to run that was equally as fast as Jake and Justin’s car. It was just great to have the opportunity to showcase my driving talent in front of such a big stage.”
