Sutton Gets Team "Back On Track" At Legendary Lowe's, Grabs 2nd-Place Finish Among Rookies

May 23, 2002

CONCORD, N.C. — It was time for a turnaround.

After three unfortunate accidents in a row, Kelly Sutton and the Team COPAXONE® (glatiramer acetate injection) crew were due for a break. And they found it at the Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Sutton and team snagged a respectable 17th-place finish for the #02 Pontiac Sunfire at the Tom Johnson Camping/EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts "100" race. After several modifications during practices, Sutton spent much of her track time getting the car adjusted to fit her driving style and demands. She qualified in 18th-place, positioning her securely in the center of the field. Though Sutton flirted with several spots during the race, she ultimately finished 17th overall and second among the rookie drivers.

"We really needed this race and a good finish," Sutton said. "It's been a tough month, but we have truly rebounded and gotten the team back on track. We're especially excited about pulling in a second-place finish among the Rookies. Bit by bit, we continue to push forward as a team."

Robert Huffman pulled in the win at Lowe's, narrowly edging out Justin Hobgood.

The #02 Team COPAXONE® Pontiac Sunfire travels to Sparta, Ky., June 15.
