May 16, 2002

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 16, 2002) - NASCAR has announced the appointment of Tom Ballos, of Richmond, Va., as Goody's Dash Series, NASCAR Touring director. Ballos, a former Goody's Dash Series driver and car owner, comes to NASCAR with ten years of officiating experience, most recently at Southside Speedway in Midlothian, Va.

"Having a former driver and car owner, with as much officiating experience as Tom has, will be a tremendous asset for the Goody's Dash Series," said Chris Boals, director of NASCAR Touring and the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge. "Tom will be a great addition to the team, and we're pleased to bring his years of management experience to the Goody's Dash Series."

Ballos was a driver and car owner in the Goody's Dash Series from 1975-1987. From 1992-1998, Ballos worked as race director for the Mid-Atlantic Modified Series. Since 1999, Ballos has been the competition director at two NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge facilities - Langley (Va.) Speedway and Southside.

In addition to his years of racing experience, Ballos owns and operates Ballos Precision Machine, an engineering and machine shop in Richmond, Va.

The Goody's Dash Series is four races in to a 14 race schedule this season. The next stop for these unique, six-cylinder race cars is the 1.5-mile Lowe's Motor Speedway at Charlotte on Thursday, May 23.
